That One Question: DOING, part 4
I sometimes wish we knew what’s been left out of the Bible, or what’s between the lines.
For example, when this question was asked —
He went into a cave and spent the night.
And the word of the LORD came to him:
“What are you doing here, Elijah?”
— 1st Kings 19:9
— was the emphasis such that it was heard as, “What are you DOING here?”
Good question. Deserves a good answer.
Let’s try it on for size this week.
Let’s listen to God asking us that same question all week long: “What are you DOING here?” Not what would we like to do…not what we’re thinking about doing…but what are we actually accomplishing?
That question, asked that way, has already colored and flavored my day as I’ve answered it more than once; may it be a blessing to you as well all this week.
See you back here tomorrow.
