  • Half Time’s Starting

Make the best use of time — Ephesians 5:16, English Standard Version It’s half-time on the 2014 calendar. Looking back, how’s it been for you so far? Maybe more importantly, how would you say you’ve played the cards you’ve been dealt in this first half? Are there some things you’d like to do differently? Take…

  • Shadows and Light, part 3 of 3.

“Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light,” says a Joni Mitchell song. Sounds like the kind of days that I know quite well. Maybe you do, too. Let’s remember that — + we are loved by the One who called Himself “the Light of the world” (John 8:12), + that same…

  • Shadows and Light, part 2 of 3.

“Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light,” says a Joni Mitchell song. Sounds like the kind of days that I know quite well. Maybe you do, too. Let’s remember that we are loved by the One who called Himself “the Light of the world” (John 8:12) also said that you and…

  • Shadows and Light

“Every picture has its shadows, and it has some source of light,” says a Joni Mitchell song. Sounds like the kind of days that I know quite well. Maybe you do, too. If this is one of your shadow-y days, remember that the One who loves us who calls Himself “the Light of the world” (John…

For about a week we’ve been thinking together about listening for God’s voice. I’d love to know what you’ve heard in these recent days. Again, feel free to leave a comment here or on Facebook or text or call or tell me when we see each other. Thanks in advance!

  • Hear That?

We’ve been thinking together for several days about hearing God’s voice. To do that, we have to pay attention. We have to listen. … Hear that?

  • Listen

“Listen.” That’s how St. Benedict begins his lengthy advice on spiritual growth. This one word is the posture he prescribes: “Listen.” No matter where or how you worship our Lord this weekend, my hope and prayer is that you’ll join me in taking time to follow his advice. “Listen.”

  • My Prayer for Today

“Your servant is listening,” Samuel says to God in 1st Samuel 3:10. Right there’s a pretty good prayer for me today, how about you? “Your servant is listening.”
