Chris Rock and The 4 M&Ms

Chris Rock talks about the difference between making history and just making a movie in the current issue of “Time” magazine.

He says, “When Grown Ups 2 comes out, chances are, unless Tyler Perry has a movie out, I might be the only black person starring in a movie.  It’ s gonna be big to somebody.”

Then he digs deeper, saying, “Everything’s not the Underground Railroad.  Everything’s not Jackie Robinson.”

His next sentence hits a gem.  “Sometimes you’re the first black guy to eat four M&Ms.”

What I hear him saying is show up, live your life, do your job, and get on with it all.

Let’s do this:

1. Grab a scoop of Old Testament: “This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.”  (Psalm 118:24)

2. Season with some St. Paul, “Forgetting what lies behind, I press forward.”  (Philippians 3:13)

3. Finish it off with anticipation at hearing our Lord say, “Well done, you good and faithful worker you!” (Matthew 25:21)

What do your four M&Ms look like today?
