When the Silly Becomes Serious

May 2, 2024

Just gotta.

Spelled forwards I’m what you do every day, spelled backward I’m something you hate. What am I?

I’ll give you a moment.

OK, even two moments.

Spoiler alert! The next sentence will be one word long, and it’s the answer to that riddle.

Live.

Spelled forward words, it’s one thing, spelled backwards it’s another.

One could even say that it’s not unlike the proverbial two sides of the same coin.

I invite you to play with that word, with that image, with that idea…and ask yourself how it applies to your daily life. As in, looking at yesterday, what is it more about living life, or more about something that tended towards evil?

Suddenly, a silly riddle has become serious.

And then there’s the gift we call Today, and what are you and I doing with it?

For some context, and as a springboard: Psalm 128:24 blatantly declares that this is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
