Today is Somebody’s Day One

December 11, 2023

An online friend shared this —

“This morning I am drinking coffee instead of tequila”

— We have no clue what people around us are going through.

Decades ago, a German pastor wrote, “We must learn to regard people less in the light of what they do or omit to do, and more in the light of what they suffer.” That was Dietrich Bonhoeffer.

Centuries ago, a convert to Christianity wrote, Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you. That was St. Paul, in Ephesians 4:32.

He also tells us, Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. That’s Romans 12:15.

That’s why I invite you to join me in celebrating that new sister’s “drinking coffee instead of tequila” and pray that it’s the first of many such days.
