Retired, but Not….
Encourage one another.
— Hebrews 3:13
I’m working on a Conference project with Cody Battefeld, a young colleague who’s become a friend.
He recently surprised me with a gift of a t-shirt.
It’s bright red. (Imagine: he chose that color for me.)
In script reminiscent of Coca-Cola’s classic lettering, it proclaims “Retired, but not expired.”
Backstory: several times already while working together, he’d start to say something and then stop. Like, “You know what we could — no, wait, I keep forgetting.”
Pause.
“You keep forgetting what?”
“I keep forgetting you’re retired!”
That’s one of the nicest compliments I’ve ever had. And the shirt he gave me expresses it well.
Who’s said what to you recently that flat-out lit you up?
I’d love to hear from you, any of the usual ways.
And I hope to meet you back here tomorrow.
