Coach Martin
Good people are good to their animals;
the “good-hearted” bad people kick and abuse them.
— Proverbs 12:10
I have a friend who calls her dog her Life Coach, and I know exactly what she means.
Not that Martin, the almost ten year old puppy who lets us live with him, imparts treasures of wisdom or asks penetrating questions or has a perfect list of Seven Ways to Whatever…but because of what I can learn when I’m with him.
A recent walk with him taught me to slow down, then to stop, and to notice something we’d walked by for a couple of years.
About thirty seconds into the experience, he glanced up at me as if to be sure I was participating. I was.
Next thing I knew, he was ready to move on but I wasn’t.
My friend who calls her dog her Life Coach? Thinking like that brings unexpected life into our daily lives.
Check out Proverbs 12:10 and Psalm 8 and let’s live into what they say.
And let’s be more grateful.
