Who You are…& are Not
Kurt Cobain: “I’d rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.”
An old song by, ironically, The Who, asked, “Who are you?”
Who really knows you?
Who really knows the real you?
Who really knows the really real you?
The answers have been marinating since before the beginning of time in the love of God.
St. Paul: Now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. (—1st Corinthians 13:12, New international Version)
St. Paul, via Gene Peterson in The Message Bible: We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! (still 1st Corintians 13:12)
