When One Falls
Long ago but not at all far away, I presented a piece about Comradeship. It included the biblical example of David and Jonathan and the Greek example of Damon and Pythias.
We could add innumerable others, including the Old Testament’s Ruth and Naomi.
People like this are treasures.
“You don’t tie a bundle of wood with one hand,” says a character on episode two of The Widow, referencing an African proverb. Good image.
The Bible says this about true friends —-
Two are better than one,
because they have a good reward for their efforts.
When one falls,
the other will lift them back up.
— Ecclesiastes 4:9
Someone needs us to be that helpful presence today. Ready?
And who’s there to help when you fall?
