The One It’s All About
I believe in Jesus Christ
and in the beauty of His birth long ago in Bethlehem,
for whom the crowded inn could find no room,
and I confess that I still sometimes want to exclude Christ from my life today.
I believe in that Holy One
Whose life was among common people,
Whose welcome came from persons of hungry hearts.
I believe in the Christ who proclaimed the love of God to be invincible,
Who looked at people and helped them see what God’s love saw in them,
and Who by love brought sinners back home,
and Who lifted human weakness up to meet the strength of God.
I confess my ever-lasting need of this Christ Jesus,
of forgiveness for selfishness and greed,
the need of the new life He offers,
and His warmth for my cold heart.
I believe in Christ Jesus, the son of the living God, born long ago in Bethlehem, for the entire world.
And I’m grateful beyond words that such love, grace and forgiveness includes you and me.
