“But I Couldn’t Stop at Just Two!”

September 29, 2017

Here’s where we began this work week back on Monday —

“It’s hard to be hateful when you’re grateful,” said Chris Hogan.
Today, try this with the rest of us:
1st, go back to yesterday’s one item list in your phone, or turn to the page in that notebook.
For real.  Physically do this.
And then:
2nd, let’s double our number of new entries for today.
Yup, make a note to yourself of two reasons you have to be grateful today.
Just two.

— I’ve heard from several people that once they started, they couldn’t stop.

It might not have been that same day.

But later this week, they found themselves thinking about their list of Just One. Then their list of Just Two.

Some even physically went back to those lists.

And added to them.

GOOD! That was the idea — to notice that once we start being grateful, it snowballs and impacts other aspects of our lives.

As Psalm 9:1 says, “I will give thanks to you, LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” That’s a pretty long list, “all of [God’s] wonderful deeds.”

There really is so much to celebrate!

How long is your list today? How many people, situations, etc., are on your list by now?

I thought I was to double each day before’s number. By Wednesday’s reading, all tonight//this morning. I had to stop on Wednesday because I am finally getting sleepy. I have stopped at 32.Did I follow the directions the way I read them?
