Another New Day with Hope in the Darkness
Give me hope
in the darkness
that I will
see the light
— Mumford + Sons
When Mumford + Sons sing that line, they’re speaking for people all around us.
Maybe you already know some of those people. You see their faces as you read these words: Give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light.
Maybe you have someone who’s been hinting to you about something in their life that’s more darkness than light. Maybe they didn’t use those exact words. Maybe they didn’t use words at all, but they’re pleading with you: Give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light.
“Wait, Joe, wait. Me? They’re looking to me for this?!”
Yup.
Philippians 2:15 says of us as followers of Christ Jesus that we “shine as lights in the world.”
May that be true of us when we hear someone say, with or without words, Give me hope in the darkness that I will see the light.
