Another New Day of Light

August 3, 2017

Give me hope
in the darkness
that I will
see the light

Yesterday we thought together here about our own darknesses God’s great gift light. If that’s not sounding familiar, just scroll down one brief blog and then come on back up here.

There’s both an echo and an expansion of the song of Isaiah 9:2 over in the New Testament at 1st John 1:5-7. The light/dark theme continues  —

This, in essence, is the message we heard from Christ and are passing on to you: God is light, pure light; there’s not a trace of darkness in God.

If we claim that we experience a shared life with Christ but continue to stumble around in the dark, we’re obviously lying through our teeth—we’re not living what we claim.

But if we walk in the light, God being the light, we also experience a shared life with one another, as the sacrificed blood of Jesus, God’s Son, purges all our sin.

— The key is in the opening phrase of that last sentence: walk in the light. You and I want to do that, and by the grace of God we can.

So what’s gonna be your next step to insure that you really do walk in the light?

And the one after that?

But maybe even before we take our next step, let’s notice the direction we’re living into as we walk in the light.

See you back here tomorrow.
