Giving Up on A Goal

Yup.
As Philippians 3:14 says, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

My NKJV words it a little differently, but it comes out the same. I discovered it in a New Year’s Day service 1978.Back then, I only had one child, a toddler, and I was able to carry my Bible to Sunday school and church. (Once I was juggling a pumpkin seat on each hip, after the twins came, it was more difficult.) I enlisted in a Bible study of Philippians shortly after reading it. I began to cling to it harder a bit more than a year later! I’ve never forgotten that service.
I took it that the goal is perfection. Since the verb is “to perfect”, I said in a sermon on a different scripture, Perfection is a goal unattainable here. Perfection is a journey.
