There’s Truth in That Typo
It’s a well known song.
Or maybe it’s a well known chorus.
Either way, it’s well known:
Lord, prepare me,
To be a sanctuary,
Pure and holy,
Tried and true.
But there was typo.
Onscreen and in the handout both, the song had us singing this:
Lord, prepare me,
To be a sanctuary,
Pure and holy,
Tired and true.
Many of us smiled or chuckled. Some went ahead and sang the correct word: Tried, not Tired.
But I missed everything that happened for the next couple of moments.
That typo had filleted me.
I was already Tired. Was I ready to ask God to prepare me, to make me even more Tired?
There’s truth in that typo. Christ Jesus addresses this and way more, talking about us as his followers meeting opposition (Mark 13:13) and yet still choosing to pick up our own crosses every day (Luke 9:23). Serious stuff.
How about you?
The next two lines:
With thanksgiving,
I’ll be a living
Sanctuary,
For You.
Ready?
Set?
Big breath.
Let’s go.
