Our President, Elvis, and Jesus
Pop Quiz:

- What were their names?
- Where were they from?
This can be Open Book.
You may grab your Bible and
turn to Matthew 2:1-12
for all the details.
For several years I’ve been a subscriber to a weekly devotional and puzzle page* that I now send to about 30 of our church members who are unable to attend worship. Along with it I add a cover letter updating them on recent happenings in the life of our congregation.
Timothy Merrill says in this week’s issue that the two most visited homes in the USA are The White House and Graceland. Our President lives in one and the presumed-dead Elvis lived in the other.
Then Mr. Merrill notes that today is The Day of Epiphany, officially ending the Christmas season with the bringing of gifts to Jesus. He points out that the location where those famous visitors brought their gifts to The Christ Child “has been lost to history.”
He then asks, “Can you imagine how many pilgrims and tourists would visit there every year, were we somehow able to recover the address? It’s probably just as well that Matthew stays mum on its location. It makes a far better spiritual destination than a physical one. Today, let us bow down in our hearts and worship the true King!”
And amen.
(How did you do on the Pop Quiz
at the top of today’s blog?
Short answer to all three questions:
