Celia’s Shirt

For by the life and death of Jesus,

God’s mighty Spirit now as then,

Can make for us a world of difference,

As faith and hope are born again.

This Is a Day of New Beginnings, verse 2,

The United Methodist Hymnal, p. 383

“Be Different,” says a favorite t-shirt of mine. It was a gift from Nashville-based friend and singer-songwriter-author Celia Whitler when we were working together on what some would call The Youth Ministry Circuit.

In the words of the song at the top of today’s blog, how are you letting God’s mighty Spirit transform you today?

What evidence is there that you’re living into a world of difference?

In his prayer for you and me just before he was arrested and killed, Jesus said this about us: “They are no more defined by the world than I am defined by the world.” (John 17:16, Message version)

A simple To Do List to nudge you and me in that direction today: “Be Different.”
