First Sunday in Advent 2015
Your old life is dead. Your new life, which is your real life
—even though invisible to spectators—
is with Christ in God. He is your life.
When Christ (your real life, remember)
shows up again on this earth, you’ll show up, too
—the real you, the glorious you.
— St. Paul, Colossians 3:3,4
Today is the traditional First Sunday of Advent, the time of preparation for the coming of Christ.
We look back at Christ’s first appearing as a baby in Bethlehem.
Our old friend Paul, in Colossians 3:3,4, points us forward.
We look forward to Christ’s triumphant return.
When you’re in worship in whatever church today, notice the forward emphasis.
Good stuff.
And I’d love to hear from you about what you hear and sing and read and experience that’s forward-looking — any of our usual points of contact will be great, and thanks in advance.
Sorry to have been absent during this season. You were aware that many things were happening in my life and I am starting to emerge (very slowly) on the other side. I pray.
