Blessings

A song that was new to me, written by Pete Carlson and Kyle Matthews:

One God and Father of Us All

All the gifts that God has given

by his grace to everyone

were meant to give us

each a place to serve.

And if we will come together

to see God’s will be done,

we will share in blessings

more than we deserve.

And then it goes to the Chorus.  But I want to call your attention to how that first verse ends.

“We will share in blessings more than we deserve,” it says.  And yes, I know that when he’s asked how he’s doing, Dave Ramsey answers “Better than I deserve.”  I love that, and have been known to use that line myself.

“Blessings — more than we deserve” is one of the best short definitions of God’s grace that I’ve seen recently.

“Blessings — more than we deserve” is an image has been fueling me all this week.  I hope and pray it helps you as well.
