No Hurt Too Big

September 8, 2014

Looking at some rough road in front of you in this coming week?  I find this helpful.

It’s from Deborah Krellwitz Alexander and it’s with her permission that I share this with you.  She and her husband Jim are doing a spectacular job raising Mr. Matt, a great guy who happens to have special needs.  As he begins his final year in the school system, she writes this —

Mr. Matt loves watching Veggie Tales.

One of the dvd’s he has,

I think it’s called “Robin Good,”

teaches that

There is no hurt too big for God.

Any time I’m feeling discomfort,

Mr. Matt reminds me,

“No hurt is too big for God, give it to Him.”

Let’s remember Mr. Matt’s wisdom this week.  Let’s practice what he advises: “No hurt is too big for God, give it to Him.”

I love the posts and this one in particular. We should all think like the special needs people for a little while…..they can teach us a lot. I love them!

Jan, thank you for your readership and commenting; and I’m right there with you: we can all learn a lot from each other. All of us.

I love this!! (I added you to my “follow” list yesterday and both on it were added yesterday.) When I was substituting in the early part of the century (gee whiz that sounds old), I subbed quite a few times in the profound class. As in other departments of that school district, teachers could request certain subs. I loved those kiddoes! And the lessons were worth every minute spent in stations. It makes me sad, the little girl (21-years-old) next door is done with school. They don’t have plans for her to move on. A friend of mine who is retired from Special Ed and other colleagues of those departments in nearby districts are in the process of raising money for a not-for-profit to groom former students for specific jobs in the partner companies they are also working on engaging. It is an exciting plan.

This IS good news: finding ways “to groom former students for specific jobs” is the kind of job coaching Joseph’s getting, and it’s wonderful! Glad to hear another community’s moving in that direction, even a few people at a time.

Have you seen the story about a young man whose parents helped him to open a restaurant where everyone gets a hug. He believes everying deserves a hug and he wants to distribute them to as many people as possible. I think I saw it either on 60 Minutes or John Hartman On the Road. I think it was the latter.
