From the Front Lines of Parenting
True story from the nursing home yesterday. I was laughing so hard I forget to get permission to tell it. So, anonymously, —
Young child practicing naming people, points at mother and says, “Mommy.”
Points at father and says, “Mommy.”
Father corrects: “I’m not Mommy. I’m Daddy.”
Child points back at mother and says, “Mommy.”
Points at father and says, “Not Mommy.”
True story.
Your story reminds me of that old show “Dinosaurs,” twenty-some years ago,
where the baby always scoldingly called the father, “Not the mama!”

Lolololol. Thanks for sharing this. Too cute! Reminds me of my three year old grandson. The joys of little children— great gifts from God!

I’d forgotten that, Paul, but you’re right!
