Ruth, The Rainbow, Maya Angelou…& You
Thank You to Ruth Storm, an active member of a church I used to pastor, who wrote this yesterday and gave me permission to share it with you today —
I saw a quote this week that supposedly came from Maya Angelou. It said: “Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud.”
I think this is such a neat statement. We definitely all have our clouds at times and could use some rainbows.
Do you know someone right now who could use a rainbow? Maybe they just need a listening ear or a call to hear “How are YOU doing?” or a sweet treat to pick them up or a supper meal or a note saying “I’m thinking about you and praying for you” or a comment like “What can I do to help?”
I heard a while back that one of our older adults who is in a nursing home made the comment that no one from our church comes to visit. I know this is not totally true, but apparently this person feels that very strongly.
Maybe this is something that all of us can work on and truly be a rainbow in someone’s cloud. If you have children who like to draw or color pictures or make little crafty things, I would encourage you to take some of these creations to someone you might know, AND, take your children.
Thanks for sharing both of these stories of being spiritual & religious & being a rainbow for someone’s cloud. These provide good opportunities to pause and think. Thank you Joe!
