A Prayer for Today

My dad loved what used to be called Practical Jokes.

By the time was 4, maybe even 3, I was sick of ’em.

April Fools Day?  Thanks, I’ll pass.

Let’s look in a different direction for a moment.

Many, or maybe some, or maybe a few, maybe just you need this prayer today.  It’s from a little prayer book by Ron Beers.  It’s about discouragement, and it goes like this:

I call out to you today,

knowing that you hear me

and you share my burdens.

I feel lost and discouraged.

Let me feel your presence.

Thank you for allowing me to be honest with you.

Thank you for never leaving me alone.

I can count on you to

strengthen me, comfort me,

and give me the courage

I need to get through

this crisis. 

Amen.
