Don Draper
“I’m always surprised when people are like, ‘I want to be just like Don Draper,'” says Jon Hamm who plays the character of Don on Mad Men. “You want to be a miserable drunk? The outside looks great. The inside is rotten.”
We’re starting the 4th full Work Week in Lent.
“You’re hopeless! Frauds!” says Jesus in Matthew 23:27.
How’s your Lent going?
Jesus continues to rip on some pretentiously pious people as he says, “You’re like manicured grave plots, grass clipped and flowers bright, but six feet down it’s all rotting bones and worm-eaten flesh.”
How are your Lenten disciplines coming along?
“People look at you and think you’re saints, but beneath the skin you’re total frauds,” says Jesus in Matthew 23:28.
Today, as you and I start looking down the length of the week ahead, let’s be sure we’re not following Don Draper as our example.
Our outside and inside need to match up.
But that takes work!

Wow. That is thought provoking—inside & outside matching up! And we must be consistent. Yup. Hard work & attention. I guess I’m a work in progress!

Glad this is provocative, Patty
John Wesley saw sanctification as a process, remember
Isn’t that a great bit from Jon Hamm?
And then there’s that Message version of what Jesus said, yeee-ouch…!
