Friendly, Loving, or Kidding Ourselves?
“I think we’re a friendly church,” he told a first time guest.
The guest focused on his coffee cup, unsure of what to say. It was the fourth time in five weeks that he and his fiancé had been in worship, but the first time anyone had spoken to them.
In his book Unchristian, David Kinnaman reports that his study found that “fewer than half of churchgoers, including born-again Christians, felt strongly that their church demonstrates unconditional love.”
By the grace of God, we can do better.
