Strong Emotions
“It’s not wrong to have strong emotions,
but when I let them affect my words and actions,
they sometimes get out of control.”
— 365 Pocket Prayers for Graduates, page 181
By itself that sentence is an honest Prayer of Confession that applies to many situations you and I know. It’s from a book our Member Care Committee picked out this Spring.
You and I know the kind of situations this has us praying about all too well.
We might even know the havoc and the damages our “strong emotions” have caused in the past.
Join me today in this one sentence from a prayer we’ll spend some time with this week: “It’s not wrong to have strong emotions, but when I let them affect my words and actions, they sometimes get out of control.”
Maybe as you’re praying that and thinking about today, you’ll see a few of those “sometimes” in a fresh light. Don’t be afraid of that; keep prayerfully examining that.
See you back here tomorrow.
