Your Own Thoughts

August 14, 2013

“What defiles people is what comes out of them,” Jesus says in Mark 7:20.

He clarified that.  “From within come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly.”  (Mark 7:21-23)

That list is only 13 items long but I sure find it exhaustive, painful and realistic.

From them come the life fruits we thought together about yesterday and the life paintings from the day before that.

And they all start from within us.

By the grace of God, we can do better.

Join me today in asking God to help us with our thoughts.

It’s a weird way to help discipline yourself with your thoughts, but when I find myself thinking of things I shouldn’t, I look back and see the pain I may have caused others, or others may have caused me. Ultimately I want to live a life that does not judge others for there action, but understand what has caused someone to come up with the act which they, or myself carry out through our thoughts. I just don’t want to cause other’s pain.
