“If You Only Had the Time”

August 6, 2013

“If you only had the time, right?”

That’s how an ad for The Peace Corps starts.  It goes on to tell about new short-term opportunities for service, ranging from 3 to 12 months, rather than their previous two year commitments.

A golf course in Michigan has been experimenting with offering shorter rounds of 5, 7 and 12 holes to save time, according to the Wall Street Journal.

An old country song speaks for many of us: “I’m in a hurry, but I don’t know why.”

What’s one thing you and I could do differently this week to slow down and catch our breath?

I’d love to hear from you about this.

Just one thing…over the course of one week…”If you only had the time, right?”

How many of us in our relationship with Christ, like to say this to our fellow church members. “If I only had the time.” How many of us would be Christ-like, if we had the time. Did you ever think where you would be if Christ didn’t have the time to live and die for us? Regrets, of not taking time, are the seeds that produce; the not able to take time plant with many runners and no real root system; at harvest time there is no fruit, only the dried up husks of should have, could have. Many of us want to say, “God, I” then He stops us and says,”God is enough.”
