It’s Not for Good People

The Gospel is not a pat on the back for good people.

It’s an occupational hazard for pastors.

Talking with someone we’ve just met, they ask what we do.  “I play the guitar a little” doesn’t really answer the question, so we say that we are pastors. 

Sometimes that’s a conversation killer.

Another typical response is, “I’ve been meaning to get back to church, I really have, just gotta get my life together first.”  

Jesus had a different idea: I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent. —Luke 5:32, New Living Translation (©2007)
