Yes, You
We should think about each other
to see how we can encourage each other
to show love and do good works.
We must not quit meeting together, as some are doing.
No, we need to keep on encouraging each other.
This becomes more and more important as you see the Day getting closer.
—Hebrews 10:24, 25, Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
It was beyond good.
Annual Conference was this week, and it’s exactly what the name says it is. United Methodists get together once a year regionally for worship, business and fellowship. This year’s was extraordinary and I’ll tell more about it here soon.
Initially, I was attributing my joy to simply being able to be back; one year ago I was starting physical therapy after my ankle accident and couldn’t go to Annual Conference.
Then I realized what was happening and what I’d missed last year. The New Testament book of Hebrews summarizes it well: Think about each other to see how we can encourage each other to show love and do good works. We must not quit meeting together, as some are doing. No, we need to keep on encouraging each other. This becomes more and more important as you see the Day getting closer. —Hebrews 10:24, 25, Easy-to-Read Version (ERV)
As a pastor and as your friend, that’s my prayer for you this weekend: that you take advantage of the opportunity you have to get together with other Christians and enjoy what God offers you through them.
And what God offers them…through you.
Yes, you.
There is an ineffable benefit to meeting together. We grow stronger and healthier together than we can individually.
