Help from a Kids Bible

“Certainly the faithful love of the Lord hasn’t ended; 

Certainly God’s compassion isn’t through!

They’re renewed every morning.

Great is your faithfulness.”

—Lamentations 3:22,23

That’s how those verses read in the Deep Blue Kids Bibles our church gave our young readers a couple of months ago.

The Life Preservers commentary box on page 903, the first one in the book of Lamentations, seems appropriate as we try to make sense of the incomprehensible shootings in our country this week:

“Even today, we may wonder if God has forgotten us when we feel lonely, sad and even hopeless.

When we feel this way, we can pray to God and express our feelings and concerns.

And when we worship together at church, we can offer prayers of lament

for things that are going wrong in our world.

We know that God hears our cries and is always with us.”

Right now, some of us need to be reminded of the truth of that Life Preserver.

I’m afraid that group includes every one of us.
