“God is What?” — This I Know, #8 of 11
“God is love.”
— 1st John 4:16b
It can’t get much clearer than this: “God is love.”
That’s pretty simple: “God is love.”
The words are easy to grasp: “God is love.”
And I think we just memorized another Bible verse: “God is love.”
Clear, simple and not big words. Then why do we forget this so easily?
The rest of 1st John 4:16, that third of three sentences that are all packed into one verse, will help us. Tomorrow.
For today, let’s remember that “God is love.” May that reality be the foundation of all that we are and everything we do.

Huzzah! In fact, “God is love” is the interpretive lens through which I read the whole Bible. It’s the first verse that every one of us should take literally. God is love.
