A 3 Letter Word That Says It All
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life“
—Psalm 23:6
Rainy days and Mondays. Karen Carpenter sang about them.
Lonely days when I could not find a friend. James Taylor sang about them.
Yesterday, when all my troubles seemed so far away. That band from Liverpool sang about it.
Our Psalm tells us that all of our days have one thing in common: “goodness and mercy.”
Whether today is outstanding or unremarkable, God’s unchanging and pursuing “goodness and mercy” remain constant.
On a happy day that’s easy to remember.
On a sad day that’s easy to forget.
Psalm 23:6 is a great reminder that God’s love is not a Sometimes thing, but an Always thing.
Let’s soak in that awhile.
Let’s soak that in awhile.
How many days of our lives is that true? “All.”
Anybody else needing to be reminded of that today?
I came upon an interesting thought by Rick Warren. “You are as close to God as you choose to be.”

I just remembered another ‘ism’ from my teens. It was written on one of my spiral notebooks, “If you don’t feel close to God, guess who moved,” Staying close, on the hard days, is a conscious decision!
