Who’s Not Here Yet?
Watching our denomination’s General Conference online this spring was disheartening, for many reasons.
However…!
“Who’s not here yet?” was asked over the mic at some point.
I regret that the note on my paper towel from that moment credits neither the source nor the cause of that question.
But what a question it is.
At Centenary United Methodist Church, we’ll be hearing it as a Call to Worship: “Who’s not here yet?”
We’ll use it as a reminder to share our faith: “Who’s not here yet?”
It’s a call to action: “Who’s not here yet?”
“‘Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full,” Jesus said as he told a parable.
Can you hear him asking you and me right now, “Who’s not here yet?”
What you wrote and what you did not write gets closer and closer to that sharp edge that changes everything…

What if we moved chairs to the outdoors and met each Sunday in the same area. We talk about being the reflection of Christ, but staying inside; singing and praying; listening to a sermon does what? A lot of churches say to go and get the people and bring them to Christ- but what if we became like Christ and carried that out to the others. One small question, “Who’s not here yet is often our War Cry-but another question may be just as vaulable-what is here that would make them want to come? You shout, “Jesus is here!” My one question show me Him by you?

Precisely; I like the way you started where my brief piece did and then ran with it. Keep it coming.
