Tomorrow Will Be Better.

May 26, 2012

“Going to bed early.  Tomorrow will be better.”  That’s how the email ended a moment ago.  It’s been a long day for that family, filled with the kind of medical things that can cause concern.

Their faith is strong.  They trust, and they obey.  They know about God working together in all things for the good of those who love God and are called according to God’s purpose.  They know about God’s eye being on the sparrow, and they know God watches over them.  They know that God is good, all the time, and that all the time, God is good.

But it’s still been a long day.  There are going to be more long days, and probably some long nights, ahead of them.

So for now, “Going to bed early.  Tomorrow will be better.”

If it wouldn’t wake them, I’d applaud them!  What they’re doing demonstrates phenomenal faith in God’s care.  “Going to bed early,” knowing that “(t)omorrow will be better” echoes what at least two different Psalms are all about.

Psalm 128 says, “Don’t you know God enjoys giving rest to those he loves?”

Psalm 30 says, “The nights of crying your eyes out give way to days of laughter.”

Or as their 21st Century Affirmation of Faith says so eloquently, “Going to bed early.  Tomorrow will be better.”   Amen.

When I was taking care of my Mother, Jim’s Dad, 2 teens, and a hubby working crazy overtime, I knew I could sleep very well because HE was taking care of everyone in HIS way in HIS time!
