Living Frank’s Prayer, Part Two

January 5, 2012

I hope you’ve seen this prayer before…

Dear Lord, So far today, I’ve done all right.

I haven’t lost my temper.

But in a few minutes Lord, I’m going to get out of bed.

  And from then on,

I’m going to need all the help I can get.  Amen.”

Sure it’s goofy.  But it’s accurate.

It’s easy to be loving when you’re not being aggravated.

Our friend St. Francis teaches us to pray, “Where there is hatred, let me sow love.”

Ships aren’t built for the safety of the dock.  They’re built to sail on open water.

And we are designed to go into the everyday world and make a difference.

Where and when today will you in the midst of hatred?

What can you say, what could you do, to bring love into that situation?

A good place for us to start is with this prayer: “Where there is hatred, let me sow love.”

I’d love to hear about the difference you’ve been able to make.
