COPIED —-
I got to experience the hand of God yesterday.
When I received the news about my father, I was driving to see him. I hung up, screamed, and grabbed the steering wheel tightly. The next thing I remember is hearing a loud thump.
I opened my eyes to see that I was in the middle of the median, and my cruise was off. I was able to drive on to the road, and take the next exit to calm myself.
My coffee was at my feet. My diet Dr pepper (from Hardee’s) was on the passenger floor board.
Neither spilled a drop. I think I blacked out.
Lesson learned: when receiving devastating news, pull over!
— About a year ago, after 11 hours of tests and waiting for the results and another test and more results and a handful of people in succession asking me pretty much the same questions as the previous ones, I asked the Emergency Department physician discharging me what to do if such a devastating dizziness suddenly grabbed me again.
The actual medical advice: “Lie down.”
