BONUS BLOG: an adolescent dream, a hotel chain, and Jim Marshall’s legacy
EXCERPT:
In 1973 my days and nights took a rather vivid detour as I traveled on a start-to-finish tour with the Alice Cooper group. Michael Bruce, a terrific guitarist for the band, introduced me to a shoebox-size amplifier—the brand was Pignose—he carried with him so he could play in his hotel rooms. The portable Pignose was far smaller than a Marshall, yet when Mr. Bruce was playing you could hear it all the way down the hall and into the elevators. That’s what amplifiers do. Dogs bark; amplifiers amplify.
