Tom Fuerst, friend and colleague, drops wisdom here —-
I cannot tell you the joy it brings me when I’m walking around downtown Memphis and one of my unhoused friends yells out, “PASTOR! PASTOR!”
Then they walk up to me and introduce me to their friends.
There are a lot of hard things about being a pastor. There is a lot of fool’s gold pastors are sold on in contemporary ministry models.
But having unhoused folks claim you in their space is the real deal.
