Part 7, CONTENTMENT.
Looking back over this week together and this topic and that list from Monday and our Gratitude Lists (which you ARE continuing, right?) and Rachel’s formula and St. Paul’s lengthy influence in Philippians 4 and that convo my parents had in August of 19whatever…where does all that leave us?
For way longer than I’ll admit I’ve loved the fact that the windshield is my car is so much bigger than the rearview mirror.
See that old guy named St. Paul at the next table stir his coffee and nod at us? He sure has better hearing than I do.
He leans over, points to the screen of his phone as he hands it us with a smile and a nod. It reads,
I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don’t get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.
And you tell me that it sounds familiar.
He says that it should, it’s Philippians 3:13 + 14.
All of this week’s been a call to balance, to integration, to, well, to Life.
Real Life.
Specifcally, to Real Life in Christ.
