Part 6, CONTENTMENT.
I was about to start third grade when I overheard my mom ask my dad a What If question.
Something about What If we’d not moved one town to another that week, or to a different location, and a couple of other options that I don’t remember.
I do remember the silence.
Then my dad lowered his newspaper. She closed her book.
He said that he’d learned recently not to ask What If questions.
The conversation shifted to What Next questions.
The older I get the better that advice gets.
