The Danger in the Middle

October 19, 2024

I was a kid in a Creative Writing Class.

Still have those notebooks, in fact.

I’d share some of what I’d written with my dad. He told me to hang onto that stuff.

From one of them comes this: “The danger in being in the middle of the road is that you might get run over from both directions.”

This was long before our current climate, either in national politics or in some church denominations.

But some people find themselves in the middle, with only a slight lean either way.

Adam Hamilton loves to call Wesleyans in general and United Methodists in particular “People of The Middle Way.”

That resonates.

Frequently.

Which might be why I can’t ignore either impact the closest and most influential people in my life at its various stages or the habits I’ve practiced along the way whether they were intentional or not.

Take some time and review this brief series and your responses.

Join me in praying about all of this.

Hope to see you back here tomorrow.
