Even Others We Lost Along the Way

“Even others we lost along the way” is a line from a series I’ll not name lest you watch it. Like several lately, its number of seasons was stretched beyond what the story itself could bear.

But that line.

Than one line almost made up for all the time Martin and I had it playing in the background while going about our routines.

“Even others we lost along the way.”

What about us, Church?

A friend from another denomination pastored a 2,500 member congregation. When they got to their 10th anniversary, someone made a suggestion that resulted in a review of their Visitors/Guests and Members who’d left the church over that same time frame…maybe they’d like an invitation to the First Decade Celebration.

That 2,500 member church found over 25,000 people on that list.

As my friend said, the backdoor was much larger than the front door.

What about us, Church?

“Even others we lost along the way” is a line that has, as we used to say, convicted me.
