Missing, part 2
Once upon a time a family was putting their manger scene together at home.
All the pieces were in place: Mary, Joseph, shepherds, sheep, a cow…and even a little plastic dog the child contributed from his own special collection of farm animals in his room. He didn’t suggest adding his toy John Deere tractor because it was obviously too big for the manger scene.
One of the adults put the baby Jesus figure into the manger.
“It’s not Christmas yet,” the child said, picking up the Christ figure.
The parents looked at each other. Smiled.
And stepped away from the nativity set, leaving their son holding the baby Jesus.
