Going Out and Coming In

This so BIG and liberating, I don’t want you to miss it! In the Bible, God often speaks of his people “going out and coming in.” Deut 28:19 says you will be blessed “when you come in, and when you go out,’ and Psalm 121:8 affirms us, “The Lord will keep your going out and coming in.”

Jesus gave us a little more insight to this in John 10:7, when, describing himself as “the door” to the sheepfold, he said those who are saved, will “go in and out and find pasture.” So, what is this “going in and out” thing? Well, think of it this way: We all have a door to our house and we can go in and out of it any time we want, because we are FREE! I believe Jesus was saying that he won’t bind us in any way. Binding is what the enemy does. Satan and his kingdom chains, imprisons, and controls his subjects, but in the Kingdom of God, we are FREE to come and go as we want, and we are even blessed when we exercise our freedoms in Christ! Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom!

On a larger scale, “going out and coming in” refers to trusting God for ALL the activity in our lives. When we are going out of Egypt, as well as when we are coming in to a Promise, he is guiding us. When we are going out of one season and coming into another, his blessing is always on us. Because we grow from grace to grace, we are always transitioning, going to new heights in Christ, and each time, God is blessing that!

As I write this, I believe some of you are afraid to step out into something new because you don’t understand this concept. You are not God’s robot, you are his child, and he wants you to explore and do new things! He wants you to have the courage to do things differently than your family does, and not be tied to the traditions or expectations of other people. As his child, you are FREE and as you move into new things, he will be right there with you, guiding you and keeping you!
