First — Long before the advent of a dynasty that dealt in summoning birds, and had a guy whose trademark exclamation was saying the same word three times, I was wishing people “HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!” and still do.

Second — For a few of my 40+ years as United Methodist pastor under full time appointment to a local church, I was terrified every time someone started belting out the song, “Happy Birthday to you!” and with good reason —
