It’s All One Song
Neil Young, whose birthday is today, was doing a solo concert. Just himself, sitting on a metal folding chair, playing an acoustic guitar and singing.
In between songs, someone in the balcony shouted, “All your songs sound alike!”
Neil squinted up into the lights toward the balcony and laughted.
“It’s all one song, man,” was his reply.
I used to think that was a stupid story.
Let’s pick there tomorrow.
For today, be on the lookout for what Thomas Merton called “the hidden wholeness” of God in everyday life.
