BONUS BLOG: A Sprialing Series of Surprising Questions
Don Saliers is a hero of mine. He was my faculty advisor at Candler (School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta) and later a mentor and even later a friend. He wrote last week’s entries in The Upper Room’s Disciplines 2020 book. It’s my joy to share several bits and pieces from there with you here.
Reflecting on the healing of the man blind from birth in John 9:1-25, Don writes —
“I love the physical details, from the anointing with mud to the parents’ honest reply to the religious authorities: ‘Ask him!’
“This story contains a series of questions with a spiraling series of surprising answers.
“Could it be that we can understand who Jesus is by asking questions?”
