This is A Day of New Beginnings, part 6
“Yesterday.”
Someone reading that one word followed it with the rest of the opening line of a classic Beatles song.
“Tomorrow.”
And someone reading that word followed it with a couple of lines from a Broadway musical that became a movie that’s a staple of many drama departments.
“Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away; now it looks as though they’re here to stay.”
“Tomorrow! Tomorrow! I love you, Tomorrow! You’re only a day away!”
Meanwhile, right here between Yesterday and Tomorrow —
This [is] the day Jehovah hath made,
We rejoice and are glad in it.
That’s how Young’s Literal Bible translates Psalm 118:24. I like the blunt simplicity of “We rejoice and are glad in it.” No room there for a yawn, and no time to consider if we even feel like rejoicing or not today:
WE
ARE
GLAD.
— Today…”we are glad.”
To quote the late Walter Cronkite, “…and that’s the way it is.”
For some of us then, this is profoundly A Day of New Beginnings!
And “we are glad.”
