Each of you should give
what you have decided in your heart to give,
not reluctantly or under compulsion,
for God loves a cheerful giver.

A friend who wants to remain nameless says that God loves a cheerful giver for the same reason we love things like diamonds: they’re rare.
Please tell me my friend is wrong.
